What is a process facilitator?

As a process faciltator I am a neutral party in the collaborative divorce process. I work with collaborative lawyers as well as the clients themselves. Usually these meetings are done as a group, but often I will work just with the clients or even individually with one party.

How is collaborative divorce different from other forms of divorce like litigation or mediation?

Briefly, collaborative divorce is an alternative process in which the clients directly participate. Meetings are typically held in private offices, not in public courtrooms. Although each client has their lawyer, one or more neutral parties are also working for the common interests of both parties. In addition to the process facilitator a financial professional may be one of the neutrals. Find out more about Collaborative Law.

How long does the process take and how much does it cost?

An accurate or even average figure is difficult to gauge, because each case varies due to its specific nature. The advantage with collaboration is that the clients determine the schedule, not the courts. The process is more efficient than litigation, because the work is done in face to face meetings. Therefore the clients who choose collaboration tend to experience more control in how much time and money they are spending.

Do you do work outside the collaborative law process?

Yes. I have a regular practice of working with individuals and couples on their relationships. Making a relationship work and the quality of life within it are always my primary goals.
